Being denied 43 million because of a computer bug
In Austria. A young father and poker player, Behar Merlaku; this poker player that usually never plays any casino games decided to celebrate his son’s birth by going to the Casino Bregenz but this time no as a poker player but to try out theirs slots machines. And then, “BOOMMM!!!” There is the jackpot. Suddenly the slot machine winning sound went off, the little lights start flashing, and the screen start to displays a ludicrous amount of €43 million (EUR 42,949,672.86 to be exact).
"When I won, I was over the moon, which wouldn’t after seeing that enormous amount on the screen, because it's really a big jackpot," he commented to the Austrian newspaper Heute. He, of course did what we would all have done on that occasion, he took the opportunity to take his cell phone and to immortalize the scene by filming the famous slot machine (see below). But for his big surprise this waking dream will soon turn out to be a nightmare.
Then soon after the casino manager comes to meet him and then explain to him that the money will not be awarded to him, claiming the win is actually due to a computer bug. But Mr Merlaku refuses to believe as to a computer bug and said: "They came to me and then told me it was a software error. They really thought I was an idiot, but they were wrong."
Mr Merlaku would also surprise a casino employee taking a chip of the slot machine, and it’s when he first suspected that the direction was planning on deleting the data.
And then a few days later, he received a letter from the Casino Bregenz explaining that in fact an employee of the casino had by mistake manipulated the jackpot. But Mr Merlaku continued "it's not my problem, it a won and a won is a won".
He therefore decided to take legal action in court against the casino and then précised that he will fight this fraud until his death, stating “What the Casino Bregenz did to me and my family is completely out of order and outrageous”. He then pointed the fact that he now has psychological problems from this unfortunate story. He also said that he now having problem with his sleep, thinking all the time about this injustice. “Its eats me from the inside, I only think of what they have done to me that day, "said he.

Cheating is no less than thieving!
Cheaters are no less than thieves, when it comes to money games, the cheats are there to try to con and to steal from honest players. In the game of poker, there have to be at least two cheats in order to develop a method of cheating by combinations. Accomplices should be placed at the same table so that their movements can clearly be visible for one as for the other.
I have to admit that this technique can be really effective if both “players” are fully trained into this method. Although their methods “can and are” most of the time really difficult to detect even by the surveillance teams that over looks poker tables. These surveillance teams are really effective, but sometimes big cheats can goes off unnoticed, because players often tease each other like business is usual.
Unfortunately human’s eyes cannot catch all what happening in casinos, but fortunately there is cameras that monitors casinos and allow the re-view footage of the tables and cheaters are often so greedy that they end up betraying themselves. If a cheater is recognized, then he will be immediately deported out of the casino on the fact, and will be place on the famous blacklist.
Casinos are sometime doing dirty tricks amongst themselves, however, when is comes to cheaters they stick together, and they works hand and hand to fight against cheaters. The action is no surprising actually and it's quite obvious, so that other casino and respectable players will not victim of cheating. Now for cheaters stuck on blacklist, there is a new door open for them, the online poker rooms; the plotters place themselves always at the same table games anonymously and from computers with different IP addresses, and that way they can even be using the telephone or other way to communicate amongst themselves. Computer systems are very sharp against cheaters, but a real good cheater will always divert it.
